Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.

Many have focused on changing the game by adding new questlines, fresh dungeons, and plenty of cosy player homes to it, with a few even going as far as giving the Dragonborn the ability to upgrade their shouts or fight alongside an army of glowing undead spirits.

If you’re a fan of anime or just enjoy decimating Tamriel’s baddies with the most unique and bombastic weaponry you can get your hands on, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.

Feel like Skyrim’s array of vanilla swords don’t quite pack enough visual pizazz to match their punch?

The mod in question is called ‘Excalibur Morgan’, and is the latest work of modder Kittytail. Some of their previous projects have made Skyrim’s combat resemble that of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and brought Geralt of Rivia’s Witcher signs to it as spells.

This time, they’ve added a new blade to the game inspired by one of the versions of King Arthur’s sword from the visual novels of TYPE-MOON, which can be wielded as a one or two-handed sword and deals damage akin to that of Dragonbone weapons.

As you can see in the showcase video above, the black and red armament comes with some incredibly impressive visual effects, designed to match the pair of lesser powers the mod also adds to the game for you to use in conjunction with it.

These powers, dubbed “Energy Blade” and “Mana Burst”, effectively act as ways to temporarily supercharge the weapon, with the former gradually depleting your magicka or health in order to increase the sword’s range and add 90 extra damage points to each of its strikes.

The latter, meanwhile, requires at least 600 magicka points and is basically an ultimate attack, ensuring that, in addition to being boosted by the effects of the Energy Blade power, “your (very) next attack has greatly increased range and unleashes a devastating explosion that knocks and damages nearby targets for up to 600 damage.”

If unleashing that kind of power on some helpless bandits sounds fun, you’ll need to make sure you’ve already grabbed the Skyrim Script Extender and can add the weapon to your inventory using console commands once you’ve enabled Kittytail’s mod.
