Skyrim modder gives The Dragonborn the chance to have a destination wedding

Modders have historically put a lot of effort into making Skyrim feel as immersive and realistic as possible, bringing everything from destructible furniture to gear-equipping animations and dynamically-learning NPCs to the game.

Some of these have affected the wedding experience that the Dragonborn can have if they decide to tie the knot and don’t get rejected by the subject of their advances, with things like custom outfits and guest lists that don’t include your dodgy uncle Tim being on offer.

Now, a new mod has further augmented the special day you can have with your spouse, allowing it to take place in a variety of new and picturesque locations.

The mod in question is called ‘Destination Weddings’, and is the work of prolific modder Janquel. Their previous work has given you the chance to select the exact date when your playthrough begins and given you a chance to dump all of your excess money into a golden sink.

This time, they’ve added a framework to the game that’ll allow your ceremony to take place in a variety of places that aren’t Riften’s temple (sorry Maramal), with the available options changing based on what you’ve done in-game and who you’ve chosen to join in holy matrimony.

For example, if you’re still early on in your playthrough and have only just become Thane of Whiterun, you can get hitched on the Dragonsreach balcony, or, if you’ve reached the end of the road and achieved your destiny, you can choose to get married atop the Throat of the World (be sure to bring warm clothing).

Conversely, if you’re the head of a secretive faction like the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood, you can stay out of the public limelight by dragging a priest down into the Ratway or Dawnstar’s sanctuary for a ceremony surrounded by your fellow criminals.

If your desires are even darker than this and you have a Daedric artefact in your possession, you might even be eligible to tie the knot at a location like Mehrunes Dagon’s shrine.

These are just a few of the locations the mod has to offer, with Janquel having gone so far as to ensure the list will be able to grow even longer via future patches, which might allow you to get married in places added to the game by other mods.
