Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by adding unique characters, picturesque player homes, and useful mechanics to it, with a few even going as far as giving your Dragonborn the chance to wield a laser blaster or try not to be driven mad by a cursed sword.
If you’re in search of a fresh quest to play through while you wait for Starfield or Fallout Nuevo Mexico to arrive, but don’t fancy packing your bags for a tropical getaway, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.
Wish your honourable Skyrim character didn’t have to break into a temple in order to earn the blessing of Dibella?
The mod in question is called ‘The Heart of Dibella - Quest Expansion’, and is the latest work of prolific modder JaySerpa. Some of their previous projects have made the game’s friendly brawls a lot more immersive and turned the infamous Dark Brotherhood quest based around killing Grelod the Kind into a Hitman-worthy assassination mission.
This time, they’ve decided to take the vanilla quest ‘The Heart of Dibella’, which sees the Dragonborn help out some Priestesses of Dibella in order to atone for rudely breaking into their temple in Markarth on the orders of a beggar named Degaine.
As you can see in the showcase trailer above, with the mod installed, the mission has received a complete facelift, which includes the option to kick it off in a far less dishonourable manner, by receiving a letter from the leader of the Priestesses once you become Thane of the Reach.
Once it’s underway, you’ll notice that the quest now features a bunch of “new scenes, dialogue options and chances for roleplaying,” all of which JaySerpa has brought to life using cleverly-spliced vanilla dialogue that shouldn’t break your immersion.
Their revisions also include adding a new way to complete the task the Priestess give you without having to battle a gang of angry Forsworn, which can only be achieved if you’ve sided with them to escape Cidhna Mine, as well as a bunch of immersion-based smaller tweaks and Easter eggs.
The mod even includes the option to customise the blessing your character receives as a reward for completing the quest, the default version of which improves the damage you inflict on enemies of the opposite sex in combat, in order to make it better fit your Dragonborn’s romantic preferences.
Regardless of whether your noble warrior is now breathing a sigh of relief that they can earn Dibella’s favour without first embarrassing themselves, make sure to follow us for updates on Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6, and the interesting world of Bethesda game modding, including our top mods of the month.
