Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by adding new questlines, fresh dungeons, and flashy weapons to it, with a few even going as far as giving the Dragonborn the ability to upgrade their shouts or wield spells modelled on Geralt of Rivia’s Witcher signs.
If you’re sick of decorating your cosy player home of choice and fancy getting involved in an episode of Tamrielic Grand Designs that focuses on someone else’s abode, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.
Fancy observing as an NPC gradually re-builds the burned down house in Skyrim’s Morthal?
The mod in question is called ‘Environs - Hroggar's House’, and is the latest work of modder Siberpunk. Many of their previous projects have revolved around making various locations throughout Skyrim, including shrines of Talos and Kolskeggr Mine feel a little more alive via some dynamically-occurring changes.
This time, they’ve decided to do the same for Hroggar's House in Morthal, which you might remember has been burnt-down by its former owner by the time you reach the city during playthroughs, with the mod setting up a series of developments that’ll see it be rebuilt into a functional home.
In order to initiate this chain of events, you’ll need to complete the quests ‘The Pale Lady’ and ‘Laid to Rest’, after which the NPC you aid during the former mission at Frostmere Crypt, Eisa Blackthorn, will make her way to Hjaalmarch’s capital and begin to refurbish the property.
To make the process of this repair job feel like it fits with the in-game flow of time, Siberpunk has divided it into a couple of stages that’ll trigger once your character hits certain levels, making it worth paying Eisa a visit to check on her progress whenever this occurs.
Once you’ve reached the point at which the house is fully restored to its former glory, Eisa will move into it and adopt the habits of a regular Morthal citizen.
That is, unless you decide to take the mod up on its option to recruit her as a marriage-eligible follower. Though, if you want to do so, you’ll have to grab either cloudedtruth’s ‘Relationship Dialogue Overhaul - RDO SE’ or AndrealphusVIII’s ‘Missing Follower Dialogue Edit’ first, to get her dialogue working as intended.
Regardless of whether your Dragonborn is now fuelling Eisa’s work by bringing her regular cups of tea, make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting world of Skyrim modding. You can also check out our mods of the month for April 2023.
