Modders have put a lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the eleven years since it was first released into the world.

Some of these efforts have focused on revolutionising the game by adding massive new quests, huge mechanic overhauls or surreal door-based trickery to it, while others enact changes simply designed to make the game look and sound as beautiful as possible.

Meanwhile, a new mod caters to those Dragonborn who’ve founded their own homesteads and taken up baking as a hobby, giving them some fresh sweet treats to serve this Christmas.

Want some fresh goodies to serve your Skyrim family once they’ve polished off their Christmas turkey?

The mod that does this is called ‘Sweets and Such - Baking Expanded SE’, and is the work of modder kiriavark. Some of their previous work has added a few cozy little abodes to the game, including one in the Solitude harbour and another in the snowy climes of The Pale.

This time, they’ve decided to turn their modding talents towards the culinary side of the game, adding 37 new recipes to the Dragonborn’s arsenal that should make donning a chef’s hat just as much of an adventure as slaying a giant.

Among these extra entries to the Skyrim cookbook are cakes and breads, which can be baked using the oven added by the Hearthfire DLC, plus some candy, which must be brewed using a cooking pot.

Just make sure your character doesn’t spend too long staring at the renderings of these treats in the cooking menu, or they might be tempted to start scarfing down the raw ingredients before they can be added to the mixture.

Naturally, a lot of these are luxury items, but, thanks to patches being available, having survival-themed mods like isoku’s ‘iNeed - Food Water and Sleep’ or colinswrath’s ‘SunHelm Survival and needs’ installed won’t stop you from satisfying your hunger with cake rather than raw horker meat.

Regardless of whether your Dragonborn is now unable to move from a comfy chair after overindulging on Christmas dinner, make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting world of Skyrim modding. You can also check out our mods of the month for November.
