Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.
Many have focused on changing the game by adding terrifying enemies, cosy player homes, and multiplayer functionality to it, with a few even going as far as replacing Meridia’s beacon with some bacon or making Nazeem look beautiful.
If you’re a Dragonborn who likes to bring along a friend or two whenever you head out to explore the province or delve into one of its many dungeons, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.
Looking for a fresh face to accompany you on your adventures across Skyrim?
The mod in question is called ‘Eucleia - Voiced Mage Follower’, and is the work of modder Unamazement. Some of their previous projects have given you the keys to a pocket sanctuary and added some gem-based guardians to your combat arsenal.
This time, they’ve created a new follower called Eucleia Septima, who’ll happily tag along with you if you pay her a visit at Markarth’s Silver-Blood Inn.
As you can hear in the showcase video above, Unamazement has decided to lend their own voice to this slightly eccentric Imperial mage, using it to convey a unique personality that aims to come across as: “wry, curious, and a little snooty.”
In line with this idea, among the 300 lines that you can currently hear from her as you traverse Tamriel together are some pretty funny barbs and witticisms in reference to specific locations and characters, such as Whiterun, which Eucleia will declare to be: “a lovely town to have vicious neighbourly feuds in.”
When she’s not auditioning for her own stand-up special, the follower will lend a hand in battles using a range of vanilla destruction spells, the damage of which will increase by 1% every time the player levels up, ensuring that she’ll likely remain reasonably effective at higher levels without having to be gifted powerful gear, though you can still do so if you like.
However, you won’t hear any combat-based cries and exclamations from her, as Unamazement explains: “I live with people and can't record yelling, normal volume lines (were ok because they) sounded very (natural).”
Regardless of whether your Dragonborn is slightly devastated that their new friend won’t join in with the chorus of ‘uggghs’ and ‘aarghs’ that inevitably accompanies any fight in Skyrim, make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting world of Skyrim modding.
