Modders have put a lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the eleven years since it was first released into the world.

A lot of these efforts have focused on making the game’s combat a lot more interesting and in-depth, with new weapons, spells and animations helping to spice things up and new enemies providing some fresh challenges for even the most hardened of warriors.

For those who’re seeking the latter and are looking forward to jumping back into The Witcher 3 when its next-gen update arrives in December, a new mod might provide exactly what you’re looking for.

Fancy getting some practice in via Skyrim before jumping into the next-gen version of The Witcher 3?

The mod in question is called ‘Vampire Lords and Beasts- Mihail Monsters and Animals (SE-AE version)’, and is the work of prolific modder MihailMods. A lot of their other previous work has also revolved around adding new creatures to Skyrim, with everything from Minotaurs, to Daedroth Titans and even some equally terrifying chickens arriving in Tamriel.

This time, they’ve decided to combine a few of the creature mods they released back in 2019 into a single file that’ll give you a chance to battle some of The Witcher 3’s vampire variants and Foglets, as well as a few fresh versions of Skyrim’s vampire lords.

The result of this is that vampires will become much more fleshed out as an enemy type, with vampire lords taking the place of The Witcher universe’s higher vampires as the tougher top tier of a strict hierarchy, with more brutish beasts like Garkains, Folders and Katakans serving under them and being more interesting to battle than the vanilla game’s rather generic lesser vampires.

Unlike in the Witcher universe, MihailMods has also decided to slot the Foglets, renamed Foglings, into this hierarchy, having given them the lore backstory of being “goblin-like lesser vampires” from Molag Bal’s realm of Coldharbour, meaning you’ll find them in similar locations to the aforementioned lesser vampires.

Overall, you can expect to encounter around 20 new creatures via the mod, with it also adding a few rare alchemy ingredients that you can pick up from the corpses of these foes, such as the ears of a Katakan or dust from a Fogling.

If you want to fully embrace the Witcher experience while killing these bloodsucking beasts, you could also grab YazanShrateh’s mod ‘Geralt the Witcher’, which allows you to create a Dragonborn that looks exactly like the white wolf via a custom race.
