Arguably the most infamous of all of Skyrim’s mods are the ones which do strange things to dragons.
Whether they’re being turned into Thomas the Tank Engine or bombastic wrestler ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage, changes to the poor lizards are always box office, often more so than massive game overhauling mods or fun little tweaks.
This theory has just been proven apt again by a new mod, which takes the unexpected step of turning scales into states and brings a taste of the American midwest to Tamriel.
What in Oblivion is that?!
The mod in question is called ‘All Dragons All Ohio’ and is the work of modder trainwiz, who is infamous for bringing all kinds of locomotive-based madness to Skyrim and Fallout.
Now, though, they’ve got their geography hat on, having replaced all of Alduin’s buddies with the buckeye state for unexplained reasons.
Don’t think this means that you’ll be getting an easy ride through the game’s opening, because, as the clip below shows, the Ohios can still very much roast you alive with their fire breath.
This feature is technically lore-friendly too, with the Cuyahoga River, which flows through Cleveland, Ohio, having infamously caught fire numerous times over the decades, possibly providing a fitting metaphor for what living there is like.
If you’re not in the mood to be attacked by a US state, perhaps another dragon mod will be up your alley.
For example, modder Voeille, who’s also brought mediation to the game and allowed NPCs to absorb dragon souls, has created ‘Talkative Dragons’, which makes fighting the scaled saboteurs a little less impersonal.
After all, dragons have a language, so why shouldn’t they have a chat with you while trying to roast you alive, as showcased in the video below:
Plus, assuming you can find a way to make both of these mods work well with each other in your mod manager, you might end up with a version of Skyrim that allows you to have intense conversations with Ohio, which might help you get to the bottom of why trainwiz has decided to bring the state to Skyrim.
