Skyrim mod allows the Dragonborn to check their phone in between battles

Whether it’s the cost of living crisis in Skyrim or comic sans in Elden Ring, things from the real world seem to be infiltrating different games via modding on a fairly regular basis nowadays.

The latest of these mods is certainly an interesting one, seemingly giving the Dragonborn a means to look up potion recipes, puzzle solutions, or even call for help if they’re being hunted down by couriers.

Just like real life, however, checking your Skyrim phone isn't without its risks. The mod probably increases your chances of being unexpectedly attacked by a dragon or some bandits while checking social media by a significant amount.

Did you ever think the Dragonborn would be able to check Twitter?

The mod in question is called ‘Use Phone Animation’ and is the work of prolific modders WhyHello128 and SoloAlbumProductions, whose previous work has given Faendal a new voice and can even force you to fight an undead Margaret Thatcher.

Now, though, they’ve decided to turn Skyrim’s fabled hero into a medieval millennial, providing you with a revised animation with the help of console commands.

Upon entering the command specified in the mod’s description, your Dragonborn should whip out a smartphone and begin to swipe away contentedly, allowing you to appreciate what it’s like to be in any public space where people are trying to avoid eye contact.

Sadly, this is as far as the mod goes, so your dreams of being able to send real tweets from within Tamriel or even buy a sick set of wheels online, like you can in GTA, will have to be put on hold for now.

That said, the mod could prove useful if you’re looking to roleplay as a reluctant mage who accidentally enrolled at the College of Winterhold and is now enduring an incredibly boring lecture or an egotistical Dragonborn who’s only saving the world in order to boost their follower count.

On the other hand, if you’re dead set on doing a playthrough that sees your character immerse themselves in technology, you might want to give another mod, Enroys’ ‘Lore Friendly Guns of Skyrim (Formerly Rifles)’, a go.
