Star Wars Jedi Survivor players left frustrated at launch by long preload waits and unpredictable performance

If you’re a big Star Wars fan, odds are you’ve already bought the next entry in Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi series and are planning to delve into it at some point today.

The sequel to 2019’s Fallen Order seemingly features tons of new quests and revamped mechanics, as well as an array of cool locations and characters for those who’ve been avoiding reading any pre-release musings to discover for the first time, but it seems as though getting to experience any of these is proving to be a big challenge.

Between the anticipated performance issues rearing their ugly heads for most players and some lengthy unpacking times for those who’ve pre-loaded, things don’t seem too happy in the galaxy far, far away right now.

How have you found the experience of playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor so far?

Their Force-powered frustrations can be seen across a number of recent threads on the subreddit r/fallenorder, many of which begin with screenshots of loading bars from those waiting for their pre-loaded Steam version of the game to unpack and update.

While, as many users in one such thread have pointed out, a lengthy wait and the use of a lot of drive space is the norm for pre-loading large games on the platform, some users in the thread have seemingly been caught off guard regarding just how much capacity would be taken up, or have considered abandoning their pre-load in hopes that re-downloading the game in the standard fashion might offer a faster route to a successful install.

Meanwhile, the massive spoiler-free and performance issue-related megathread requested by some concerned players earlier this week, following the release of the game’s reviews, has seen a barrage of comments from players across both PS5 and PC reporting an array of issues with frame rates and graphical modes.

From some Playstation players being unable to use HDR mode, while others seemingly have no issues with it and an array of PC users sharing negative experiences across a wide range of graphics cards, it seems like the patches en-route to the game will have a lot of work to do.
