For those who’ve invested thousands of hours into the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4, the release of Starfield, which is now pencilled in for September 6, can’t come soon enough.
Regardless of how many interstellar mods you plan to install once it arrives, which hairstyle you plan on giving your character (only to have it ruined by the lack of gravity), or the amount of cash you’ve already begun to save up in anticipation of it getting some killer DLC, the idea of being able to delve into the game soon has RPG lovers of all stripes hyped up.
That said, if you’re looking for something to send your excitement levels about Bethesda's venture into space into overdrive ahead of the showcase of it that’s set to take place on June 11, you might want to check out something a fan has recently edited together.
Are you counting down the days until the Starfield Direct showcase set for later this week?
The cosmically-themed creation of this would-be astronaut, Tom Joseph, aka user Phaedrus78, can be found in a recent thread on the Starfield subreddit, which they kicked off by declaring: “With a week to go until the Starfield Direct, I thought I'd get everyone ready with this hype trailer I put together today!”
This trailer, which you can check out in full above, is mainly comprised of sections from the game’s teaser trailer, gameplay reveal, and launch date announcement, which have been spliced up and paired with the dulcet tones of Johnny Cash and John F. Kennedy, in order to create something a little bit fresher than the videos you’ve likely watched hundreds of times at this point.
In a comment, Phaedrus78 provided some explanation of their reasoning behind selecting the particular clips they did, saying: “I know there's zero actual in-game gameplay footage in this trailer, it was a deliberate choice to make it look a little more cinematic.”
Their work certainly seems to have accomplished its goal of generating hype among fellow fans, with user Ok_Structure4630 responding: “Nice! Thanks! I can’t wait for this!” and thinkpadius asking: “What are you trying to do to my heart rate?!”
Meanwhile, user IntelligentNewspaper left a slightly more lengthy review, musing: “This was actually really good. [It] really makes me wish Johnny Cash’s [music] was actually in the game. [It] would be amazing to just explore the universe with that song playing in the background.”
