For those who’ve invested thousands of hours into the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4, the release of Starfield, which is pencilled in for September 6, can’t come soon enough.
While many of these would-be spacers have been left to speculate and hype themselves up about everything from the game’s potential mods and DLCs to the exact number of hairstyles it’ll contain, Sunday’s massive Starfield Direct provided plenty of fresh answers regarding exactly what it’ll offer.
Though some of the biggest talking points coming out of this show concerned the game’s 30 FPS cap on consoles and some potential peeks at its version of Earth, many fans have instead focused their attention on one of the team members featured in it, whose wacky in-game exploits have them hooked.
Are you keen for more updates on the zany in-game exploits of Starfield producer Jamie Mallory?
From creating a Platypus-shaped craft to going on sandwich-fuelled pirate rampages through the galaxy, Bethesda Producer Jamie Mallory’s interstellar antics have already earned her a place in the hearts of the game’s community.
In line with this, the response on r/starfield to the latest tease we’ve gotten regarding her antics, the building of a cheese sandwich-shaped ship dubbed ‘The Griller’ that we’re yet to get a look at, has seen some Reddit users dub her “the physical representation of the community” and “the breakout star of the showcase.”
Others expressed a desire to learn more about Mallory's hijinks, with user B_VULCaN1 calling for all of Bethesda Game Studios’ future press releases and posts about the game to feature either a Mallory cameo or “status updates on her playthroughs," while user Tothecatmobile suggested: “She needs to stream a let's play once the game releases.”
A few have gone even further, calling for the Producer to be added into the game as a character, with user shpydar saying: “I would love a side quest where the sandwich pirate, captain of the [HMS] Platypus, appears and demands our sandwiches, [then] if you refuse they attempt to board [your ship] and are extremely difficult to repel.”
In another thread, user junk_draw has shared some fan art they’ve created of a similar in-game version of Mallory, dubbed the “Sandwich Corsair!” on a wanted poster, with her crimes ranging from lollygagging to sandwich brigandry.
