Most of the hardcore Bethesda RPG fans who’ve invested thousands of hours into Skyrim and Fallout 4 can't wait for the release of Starfield, which is set for September 6.
These would-be interstellar explorers got plenty of fresh answers regarding what to expect from their trip to space at this month’s Starfield Direct, which featured everything from the Adoring Fan, to a few surprisingly valuable sandwiches and even a ship with a rage quit button.
While some have since been trying to work out the scale of a planet or which version of the game they’ll have to buy to get a physical disc, one group on Reddit have decided to try and predict what their inevitable first in-game deaths will look like.
How long do you expect to last before dying for the first time in Starfield?
Their slightly morbid musings can be found in a recent thread on the subreddit r/starfield, which user apexanimo_ kicked off by asking their fellow would-be astronauts to describe the scenarios that they think will be the undoing of the initial forays into the cosmos.
As you can imagine given the sheer scope of the game and the notoriously gaudy amount of ways to kick the bucket that Bethesda’s previous works have offered, the thread’s interstellar travellers were able to come up with an interesting array of potential demises.
Among the laundry list of scenarios they listed were classics like underestimating the damage that a fall will inflict, something which a few fans admitted the game’s boost pack will likely make even more common than usual, accidentally antagonising an entire city of NPCs, or getting a bit too careless with explosives.
Others came up with more unique possibilities linked to the game’s setting, with user Invested_Glory declaring: “I will try to fly into the star of that system… for science,” and MrKain admitting that they’ll be killed by their “need to find out if I can pet alien animals.”
Meanwhile, a couple announced their intention to do some interstellar streaking, with user svrgnctzn saying: “I’m definitely spacing myself without a suit on to see the death animation!”
