For those who’ve invested thousands of hours into the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4, the release of Starfield can’t come soon enough.
Regardless of how you feel about the prospects of Bethesda's venture into space, the idea of being able to delve into a freshly curated game filled with new quests, characters and locations has RPG lovers of all stripes intrigued.
Currently, some of the game’s most hyped-up would-be players are trying to guess what the defining theme of the story they’ll experience as they slice through the galaxy might look like by voting in a poll.
What do you think the defining mission statement of Starfield will be?
The thread containing this democratically-organised speculation on the Starfield subreddit began with a post from user droidorat, who asked “What will the ultimate end goal in Starfield be?” and set up a poll with six options fellow spacers could vote for.
As of writing, the poll’s received around 2k votes, with the choice currently leading the way being “Make contact with other sentient species”, which has received 570 votes, giving it a daily comfortable lead over the second place option “Discover humanity’s origin”, which sits at 490 votes.
The podium positions are being rounded out right row by “Save humanity from a threat” on 325 votes, while “Save the Galaxy from threat” and “Expand the human presence (new colonies, etc.)”, which have 278 and 234 votes respectively.
Sadly for those who want a Sims-style experience from Bethesda’s RPG, the option “Restore/Repopulate Earth” is currently bringing up the rear by a significant margin, having only amassed 71 votes.
Meanwhile, in the comments, some slightly less serious suggestions were floated, with user zen_mutiny declaring: “To collect all the cheese wheels in the settled systems.” and the entrepreneurial rockrishna joking: “(To) get rich and forget entirely about the main quest.”
If one of the options mentioned above seems like a good bet to actually be the true end goal of Starfield in your estimation, you’ll be glad to know that the poll isn’t set to close for another few days, so there’s still plenty of time to cast your vote.
