Most of the hardcore Bethesda RPG fans who’ve invested thousands of hours into Skyrim and Fallout 4 can't wait to start digging into Starfield.
Some have been passing the time until it arrives by getting ready to make some mods for the game, getting caught up in the discourses surrounding leaked aspects of it, or just planning out how they’ll become the universe’s foremost sandwich hoarding pirate.
As the game’s now imminent release has inched closer, we’ve been hearing a lot more about Starfield from the developers that’ve been involved in its production. Now, with the game’s release imminent, Todd Howard himself has sent out a special message to fans.
How hyped up are you to finally play Starfield at some point soon?
Posting to the Starfield subreddit via an account bearing the username ToddBethesda, which he previously used during a 2021 AMA session designed to celebrate Skyrim’s tenth anniversary, Howard kicked things off by declaring: “From all of us here, THANK YOU.”
He continued:
Hey everyone! Long time lurker here. A quick THANK YOU for your passion and excitement for Starfield. I can remember when this sub started, and as it's grown, your excitement has [fuelled] all of us at Bethesda. We like to say we have gaming’s smartest fans, and you certainly are. Starfield has been a labour of love for us and the fact that all of you care enough to build a community around it means the world to us. We can’t wait for you to play.
Naturally, the response to the post in the subreddit has been overwhelmingly positive, though Howard’s comment suggesting Starfield fans to be the medium’s most intelligent has even raised some eyebrows among members of the community being complimented.
“Uh sure, Todd. No offense man, whatever you say,” one comment on the post jokingly replied.
Howard has also recently sent a congratulatory internal memo to the team at Xbox and Bethesda, which has since been published by Windows Central.
In addition to thanking those who’ve worked on the game, the memo also sees the director discuss originally pitching the game all the way back in 2013 and praise Phil Spencer for supporting the project following Bethesda becoming part of Xbox.
Regardless of whether you’re desperately counting down the hours until you can blast off into Bethesda’s RPG, make sure to follow us for lots of guides to Starfield’s world, mechanics, and builds.
