Street Fighter 6 is a critically-acclaimed fighting game but it might have some of the worst crossover promotional material we’ve ever seen. While we already ranted about how poorly the Spy x Family collab was handled, the sixth entry didn’t do any better with its previous team-ups.

Even before the Spy x Family event, Capcom’s sixth entry also teamed up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Baki the Grappler. Rather than use the event to give costumes to characters like Ryu, Luke, or Cammy, these items were limited to your created character.

Admittedly, Street Fighter 6 has a great create-a-character mode, but it’s not what most fans will be spending their time on. Despite Capcom’s insistence on making players use their avatars, most fans want to use the actual in-game characters and some of their pricey DLC costumes.

Honestly, who wants to use a custom version of Yor? She should have been a costume for Chun-Li or Juri since they somewhat match her fighting style in the anime. The same goes for Lloyd, who could have been a simple costume for Ken or Luke, which would have made fans happy.

What’s annoying about this is that Capcom figured this out in Street Fighter 5, which is a shame because Street Fighter 6 is better than its predecessor. However, the point still stands, as the fifth entry had various Capcom crossover costumes for the game’s various characters and they were great. Charlie got a Captain Commando suit, Chun-Li got Morrigan, and Ryu got Mega Man, it was all simple and very fun.

That’s not to say fans hate the game’s custom avatar system since it did trend online for quite a bit. Fans were creating whoever they could with the game’s options, including pop star Taylor Swift, of all people. Unfortunately, most fans just want to stick with their mains and that means we want more costumes for characters, instead of for our avatars.
