There's no doubt that the upcoming Suicide Squad Season 1 update needs to be major. Rocksteady's latest game hasn't been very popular, with Kill the Justice League's sales being disappointing, despite our Suicide Squad review being fairly positive of the game initially. However, the patch notes for Suicide Squad's first season of content is a good step in the right direction.

While the leaks claimed that Suicide Squad's third season will be where the game gets great, this first major update seems to be a great starting point. Of course, the main selling point is that of Suicide Squad introducing the Joker - not the Mark Hamill one we've come to love in the Arkhamverse - but rather, an Elseworlds version. This decision has been... controversial for fans, to say the least, but I'm a believer in trying different variations of beloved characters.

Alongside Joker comes a new Elseworld to explore. With Season 1, Suicide Squad is getting a version of the iconic Metropolis that has been warped, or some would say, 'Joker-ised', with bright, unmatching colours parading the city under a green-tinted skybox. Aptly titled Season of Joker, the first season will also introduce a new villainous gear set, with a design based on Scarecrow, as well as other Notorious weapons based on the likes of Mad Hatter, and the beloved Reverse Flash.

New content is always exciting, and is usually a good excuse for players to return to a game. However, the game has a hard road ahead of it, with Suicide Squad dropping below 2014's Watch Dogs' player count recently. However, the team is seemingly very committed, with over 100+ bug fixes, and major changes to the endgame experience, as well as enemy designs. Biggest change for the update? Sniper enemies have been nerfed, and those were the worst enemies to deal with.

There's a huge, huge list of changes within the Suicide Squad Season 1 patch notes, so much that we can't go over all of them in this article. The game has a difficult time in front of it, but I'm actually quite excited to return to Suicide Squad's City of Tomorrow to fight Brainiac again. Please, don't screw this up more Rocksteady.

Suicide Squad Season 1 starts on March 28, 2024.
