Supergiant Games’ award-winning, god-like roguelike sequel to Hades, Hades II, is launching first on the Nintendo Switch’s successor after the game exits its Early Access period.
Hades has always felt at home on the Nintendo Switch, and Supergiant Games has consistently shown support for the console. The original game, after spending a long time in Early Access on PC, also launched on the Nintendo Switch during its debut in May 2024. This time, they’re doing the same with its sequel, bringing Hades II first to the Nintendo Switch 2 once the game is ready.
It won’t be available at the launch of the new console, as Supergiant still needs time to polish the game. There’s still some story content missing during the Early Access period, but despite that, it already feels like a complete experience thanks to the wealth of content it offers.
Hades II is the sequel to Hades, but instead of following Zagreus on his journey to confront his father, the lord of the underworld, the sequel shifts focus. Players take control of his sister, Melinoe, on a quest for vengeance against the Titan of Time, Chronos.
While the narrative takes a new direction, Hades II keeps the best parts of the original and adds even more depth. For an Early Access title, it already includes over a thousand lines of dialogue, with potentially a thousand more to come by the time of full release. Even players who have sunk 200 hours into the Early Access version report that they rarely encounter repeated dialogue.
Hades II for the Nintendo Switch 2 does not have a release date yet, and the same goes for its full release out of Early Access. It's also confirmed that Hades II will also be playable on the original Nintendo Switch. For now, PC players can enjoy Melinoe’s journey ahead of its broader launch.
