It wasn’t that long ago when Nintendo said they would be ready for Switch 2 scalpers, promising that there would be more than enough copies for most customers. However, it seems that the black market had different ideas, as scalpers are now selling these consoles for major prices and they aren’t officially out yet. Fans who were worried about scalpers have been proven right and they should probably wait things out.

According to a post on the Gaming Leaks subreddit, a black market seller is supposedly giving out Nintendo’s new console for a neat $40,000. That’s way too much for a brand-new console but is a drop in the bucket for rich gamers who desperately want this system. Whatever the case, it seems that normal gamers will need to log in early when those pre-orders arrive.

When Nintendo said that they were prepared for Switch 2 scalpers, fans weren’t too optimistic about what the company was saying. Granted, it would be nice if the company ended up making so many consoles that no one pays attention to scalpers. However, many were already making peace with the fact that scalpers would dominate this system and it seems they were right.

That’s not to say fans won’t be able to get Nintendo’s next-gen system, but it’s just going to take a while. Luckily, Nintendo did say that they would still support the original Switch when its successor comes out, which is good to hear. We don’t know how long this support is going to be, but Switch owners are going to need it.

Details on the Switch 2 are pretty slim, though there is plenty of leaked information that may or may not be true. Fans are hoping that the magnetic analogs are true since the very first Switch was notorious for drifting a ton. Some leaks have also claimed that you can place the joy-cons wherever you like, essentially idiot-proofing the new console.

At the moment, that’s everything we know about the Switch 2 being sold on the black market. For more depressing gaming bits, here’s a rant about the recently announced Days Gone Remastered.
