The Switch 2 will finally be revealed next week and everyone is excited to see just how strong this system is going to be. It appears Nintendo is already thinking three steps ahead, as the company reportedly has a three-phase launch plan for the new console. Based on this plan, Nintendo seemingly doesn’t want another Wii U situation, so it will be interesting to see how things pan out.
According to a report from Insider Gaming, the three-phase launch will involve major game releases in June for the first phase, October or November for the second, and the holidays for the final phase. No games were mentioned for this launch period, but it was noted how the first phase will most likely have Nintendo-published titles and the second will have plenty of third-party releases.
Details on the Switch 2’s holiday phase were revealed, but we assume that Nintendo will have a major release that will excite the general gaming public. It wouldn’t surprise us if the new Mario Kart is released around this time, since the holidays are when console sales ramp up. The rumored 60 FPS Breath of the Wild could also make an appearance, but that’s just speculation at this point.
Overall, it seems like Nintendo is prepared to release this new system with plenty of buzz and fanfare. The first Switch ended up being one of their best consoles ever, if not the best, and has sold millions of copies. Naturally, Nintendo will want to replicate that success with their next system, and they don’t want another Wii U situation, which was a massive failure for the company.
Nintendo’s Switch 2 already has a lot going for it, as the company confirmed that it will be backward-compatible with original Switch games. Some gimmicky games might not work at all, but we’re sure the general Switch library is going to play well, and maybe even have some improvements.
The Switch 2 Nintendo Direct will take place on April 2. How excited are you for the new system? Let us know on social media.
