Bad news for anyone expecting a more refined home screen UI for the Nintendo Switch 2—it looks like there’s not much change at all. Judging by a first-look image spreading across social media, Nintendo’s latest hybrid console retains a nearly identical interface.

Apparently, the UI is almost the same as the original Nintendo Switch, with only a few additions, including more icons on the taskbar. One of the most notable is the massive ‘C’ button that players had been speculating about—it turns out to be GameChat, Nintendo’s own version of Discord for playing and streaming with friends.

Three new buttons are also present: a News Tab, likely for Nintendo-related updates, a Dropbox-style GameSharing option, which may allow users to play with others on a separate Nintendo Switch 2, and a Game Cartridge icon, located next to the Joy-Con icon, which Nintendo has discussed in detail regarding the blend of digital and physical media in this new era.

Beyond these additions, everything else remains the same, with the Nintendo eShop logo still sitting next to the Gallery icon.

There’s still no confirmation on whether customizable themes will be available for the home screen UI. Given that Nintendo didn’t mention it during today’s Direct, players shouldn’t expect much in the way of customization.
