You would think Hideo Kojima had a role in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, judging by the newest content just revealed.
The full crocodile outfit Snake wears is a bold, slightly eccentric idea that feels like it was plucked from Kojima’s personal collection of weird concepts.
Strange yet playful and unexpectedly tactical, this quirky DLC uniform has definitely caught fans’ attention.
What’s the Origin of the Crocodile Cap In Metal Gear?
This concept was already referenced in the original Metal Gear Solid 3.
Players could earn the Crocodile Cap, a funny and effective helmet that lets Snake blend in with crocodiles in the swamp. It wasn’t just for laughs either—you could shoot enemies while swimming, and they’d mistake you for one of the local reptiles.
It became popular among fans because it perfectly balanced MGS’s hallmark of creative oddities and practical in-game benefits. But Konami has clearly decided that wasn’t enough. That one goofy hat got upgraded into a full transformation in Delta.
The Crocodile Suit that comes with the game’s Digital Deluxe Edition through the Sneaking DLC Pack outfits Snake in a full crocodile body with textured scales, a swishing tail, and a snapping jaw that opens as he moves.
Is This Just Cosmetic, or Does It Really Work?
What makes it even better (or more ridiculous) is that the suit now works on both land and water.
Players can crawl through mud, sneak past enemies, and lurk in swamps in a way that feels like a stealth joke and a serious tool at the same time. A brief clip posted by Konami on social media shows Snake moving like a reptile, complete with animations that make the jaw open and close.
It can even trick other crocodiles, which makes its purpose even stranger. There’s even a tease from Konami suggesting the suit may produce “special effects” when players crawl a certain way, though details remain undisclosed.
That single hint comes off as pure Kojima: introduce a bizarre element, skip the explanation, and watch fans dig into the weird details. Some might argue the $79 price tag for the Deluxe Edition is pushing it, especially since the base game itself is already hefty.
But for fans who thrive on the franchise’s blend of intense espionage and outright silliness, the Crocodile Suit could be totally worth the price. The game is officially scheduled to drop on August 28, 2025, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Whether you’re here for the drama, the stealth, or the crocodile suit, Metal Gear is evolving but still keeps its unique edge.
