A hated Warzone meta from previous eras of the battle royale has resurfaced and is ruining matches as Season 3 Reloaded comes to a close.
Throughout Warzone's four-year history, there have been several metas that have acted as the fastest way to send opponents into the gulag. Ranging from legacy weapons such as the Kar98k to the absurd power of the DMR, some have branded the latest Call of Duty battle royale meta to reappear as the worst one yet.
More affectionately known as the 'doof doof' meta, players are starting to capitalize on the meta once again in Season 3 Reloaded with a different shotgun possessing fire-breathing ammunition capable of shredding through armor in the blink of an eye.
The weapon in question is the Riveter. When equipped with .410 Gauge Incendiary Ammo, players can inflict burning damage onto their intended target resulting in a faster time to kill. During a few Rebirth Island matches, I was quickly on the receiving end of a Riveter squad obliterating myself and my team. Not even my HRM-9 build could compete with the superior firepower.
To demonstrate, content creator Sally is a Dog showcased its dominance in a recent video.
Sally noted that the fire-breathing shotgun was "very good" in close-quarters but lacked the range to make an impact in longer distances. Despite this, it was the perfect accompaniment to the SVA 545 assault rifle which has also proved popular throughout the season.
The Riveter was one of several weapons to receive a buff in Season 3 Reloaded which could be a reason why the shotgun has moved towards the top of the ever-changing meta. As with all overpowered weaponry, there's a strong chance Raven Software is already planning on a nerf before it has a chance to assert its dominance over a longer period of time.
We'll have to wait and see if the doof doof meta truly returns in Warzone but with Season 4 launching soon, the likelihood of the Riveter dominating for any length of time is unlikely. In the meantime, I recommend using it to its full advantage to score some wins with ease.
