Call of Duty: Warzone has cut a third of players from matches, decreasing the Massive Resurgence player count from 150 to just 100. After decreasing the player count back in April on Al Mazrah, Massive Resurgence has suffered the same fate.

Following the massive slash in player count, Warzone players infuriated once again at developer Raven Software. While the player count change will only occur for the ongoing The Haunting event, fans are incredibly unhappy with the alteration.

With fans already annoyed at the rampant jump scares in The Haunting Halloween event, as well as invisible pay-to-win skins, this change has not gone down well at all.

“Finally added a fun mode and quickly decided to say, ‘Nah people are enjoying this too much, lemme make this update an L real quick,’” one fan said in response to the change’s Twitter announcement.

“Server stability? Game flow? SBMM balance?” one player asked. “You'd be surprised how much the community would understand if you just respect them enough to explain your movies.”

Fans have also taken the opportunity to make fun of the update as it has ruined the purpose of Massive Resurgence. With the mode designed to show off the massive player counts Warzone is capable of, the mode has just been made into a regular match of the battle royale game.

“Bro just went from massive resurgence to slightly bigger resurgence,” one player said. “So it’s not massive anymore?” asked another Warzone fan. “So now it’s medium resurgence,” joked another.

Warzone The Haunting ends on November 6, 2023. Once the Halloween-themed event ends, the player count on Massive Resurgence should quickly be returned to normal.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available as a free-to-play title on Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5 and PC, if you have the space to download it.
