When CD Projekt Red announced a new Witcher game on March 21, much of the initial speculation among fans and media centred around the idea of Ciri as the ideal Witcher to take over as protagonist from the much beloved Geralt of Rivia.

Sadly, a statement to Eurogamer by Robert Malinowski, CD Projekt’s global communication director, shortly after the announcement cast doubt on these theories by revealing that the Witcher medallion featured in it was designed to resemble a lynx, not a cat as Ciri fans had believed.

However, all is not lost. A new mod for The Witcher 3 by CurtisRusty adds a little, but important detail to Ciri’s character model that can aid the roleplaying of those who love the idea of her taking up Geralt’s profession at the conclusion of the game’s main story.

Witcher 3 Mod Makes Ciri a True Witcher

The mod is called “Witcher Eyes for Ciri” and follows a number of other mods also by CurtiSRustY designed to augment the appearance of Geralt in The Witcher 3.

Much like one of these mods “Real Witcher Eyes - Geralt”, this mod changes Ciri’s eyes, which are green in the vanilla game, into the striking yellow cat-esque peepers characteristic of Witchers who’ve undergone the trial of the grasses.

That said, the mod remains ideal for those seeking minimalism, as it refrains from turning Ciri into Freya Allan from The Witcher Netflix series or giving her Naruto-esque eyes.

Though, on the other hand, it can’t claim to be lore-friendly, as Ciri never undergoes the mutations necessary to truly become a Witcher during the events of the games, so purists may want to give it a miss.

The mod can be downloaded manually using the instructions on its page or using a mod manager.
