With many long-term lovers of The Witcher 3 deciding to return to the game in order to check out last month’s free next-gen update, the streets of The Continent are bustling with more life than they’ve seen in a good while.

Those jumping back into the body of the white wolf on PC might have noticed that modders have been hard at work altering and adjusting some of the fresh content added by the update, such as its armours and medallions, to suit their own liking.

In addition to these fresh works, a lot of the uber-popular mods that you might already have in your load order have been receiving the necessary updates to work with the newest version of the game, with the latest being one that’s a must-have for dog lovers.

Sick of being unable to relax and take in the beautifully-rendered flora of The Witcher 3’s next-gen update?

The mod in question is called ‘Friendly Wolves (Next-Gen)’ and is the work of modder monochrony, whose previous work has ensured that you can always see how much health Geralt has and made some highly requested tweaks to his grandmaster Feline and Manticore armours.

This time, they’ve decided to provide an update to apomorph’s very popular ‘Friendly Wolves’, which ensures that the various wolves Geralt might encounter as he explores The Continent's various backwoods won’t be hostile towards him, saving the white wolf from having to butcher packs of his namesake.

It’s up to you whether you want these wild canines to be friendly or just neutral, with monochrony having included files that cover both options, with both preventing them from attacking humans, but the neutral version still allowing Geralt to harm them.

Both versions also intervene during some quests that might require you to slay some wolves in order to advance, such as Fools' Gold and Big Feet to Fill: The Third Group, though those summoned by enemies like Leshens will still be hostile.

Monochrony has also included an optional file which will make the packs of wild dogs you can run into neutral towards the player, saving Gerry from even more senseless slaughtering.
