While The Witcher series certainly has its fair share of difficult bosses, with the likes of The Witcher 2’s Kayran and the Blood and Wine DLC’s Dettlaff van der Eretein immediately springing to mind, they aren’t quite as numerous as those in FromSoftware’s array of titles.
No matter whether you’re booting up Elden Ring, Bloodborne, or one of the Dark Souls games, you’re guaranteed to be in for an unending string of brutal fights from beginning to end that’ll test your limits and probably make you consider modding the game to rebalance it.
However, while you might have a difficult time getting to the end of these titles in one piece, a group of gamers have gotten together to ask an all important question: could Geralt of Rivia beat them?
Do you think big Gerry would be able to slay the bosses of Dark Souls?
Posting to begin the ResetEra thread on this topic, user Teusery simply asked: “Can Geralt survive every Souls Game?” and set up a poll with three options so that people could cast their vote on the issue.
Of these three options totalling 159 votes, the resounding victor was the choice which claimed Geralt could successfully survive every souls game. The winning selection amassed 95 votes, which amounts to 59.7% of the total vote.
Trailing it in second place was the option that suggested the white wolf wouldn’t reach the end of any of the games, with 42 votes (26.4%), and, finally, the belief that he’d make it through some of the titles, but fall to a specific boss midway through one of them, with 22 votes (13.8%).
Despite the option not winning, a few players offered suggestions of which boss they thought would down Geralt, with user bigbusiness saying: “Isshin in Sekiro would best him, unfortunately.” and Grudy wondering: “Can his quen last long enough to survive Malenia's waterfowl dance?”
Others outlined reasons why he’d be just fine, with user PlanetSmasher saying: “Geralt is an extremely accomplished monster slayer. I can only imagine what kinds of nonsense he could accomplish if he came back to life every time he died like a Souls protagonist.” and Raigor specifying that they think the version of Geralt depicted in the Witcher books would be a better shout than the version from the games.
On the other hand, user Izanagi89 had a simple reason why they didn’t think the experiment would go too well, quipping: “Not when he's hopping around like a ballerina.”
Regardless of whether The Witcher 3’s combat left an unshakeable imprint on your psyche, make sure to follow us for coverage of some mods that might help you make it through the likes of Elden Ring using only one hand.
