Another Marvel Rivals season, another set of problems the community is trying to address. This time, it looks like Wolverine is causing chaos in the developing meta, and it’s all because of his broken and unbalanced kit.

Back then, Wolverine was a sleeper hit. Nobody expected him to climb the ranks easily during the early days of Season 1. Many thought he was just another low-tier hero, only to find out that he can shred tanks in seconds, thanks to his damage scaling against massive health bars. He quickly became a favorite among top players and a reliable counter against strong Vanguards.

Now, his power seems to have grown tenfold with the release of Season 3. It’s not due to a direct damage buff, but rather because of his team-up with The Phoenix.

The Eternal Bond team-up is easily the most broken addition in the game. It gives Wolverine a powerful burst of lifesteal whenever he hits enemies with his Feral Leap attack. Not only does it heal him nearly to full health, but it also deals burn damage to affected heroes. If Wolverine uses this skill against a Vanguard, his health can instantly replenish after a few attacks, turning Logan into an unstoppable force in higher elos.

This has soured the community, with many players turning to the game’s official subreddit to express their frustration. He’s simply not a fun hero to play against, especially with Marvel Rivals already struggling to balance its Vanguards. The role has slowly become the most oppressed in the game due to how easily counterable most of them are.

Now, it seems the community largely agrees it’s time to keep banning Wolverine so he doesn’t continue to dominate in high-elo play. This is often followed by bans on other frustrating meta heroes like Peni Parker and Black Panther.

With Marvel Rivals’ seasonal resets dropping players by seven divisions, many will find themselves in Silver or low Gold ranks, where bans aren’t yet available. And the thought of facing a good Wolverine without a way to block him out is already terrifying.

The community is urging NetEase to fix Wolverine’s destabilizing presence on the battlefield, especially when paired with Jean Grey. It’s a broken mechanic that turns him into a rage-fueled monster that just won’t die.
