With Tears of the Kingdom now having arrived, most Legend of Zelda fans have spent the majority of the past week and a bit relentlessly exploring the picturesque plains of Hyrule.
Regardless of how you chose to pass the time while waiting for Nintendo’s latest release to drop or what you’ve thought of its overall experience so far, odds are the array of Fuse-compatible items and interesting activities on offer will keep you entertained for a good while.
Though some have been busy cowering from Gloom Hands, lots of players seem to have been dedicating their time with the game so far to building and sharing interesting contraptions that can help out in combat or make exploration easier, with one of the latest possibly being a godsend for those seeking solutions to platforming puzzles.
Are you keen to reach new heights in Tears of the Kingdom without having to join the Korok space program?
A clip of this cool creation from the community that's already constructed the likes of Hylian Segways and working lawnmowers was posted by user PixelatedFrogDotGif on the subreddit r/HyruleEngineering.
They explained: “(I) wanted to make an elevator that could crawl an undefined length of wooden boards, and got a surprisingly grippy, surprisingly adjustable lil thing,” later adding that they’d solved the issue of the platform drifting away from the boards as it climbed via the addition of “a small counterbalance with wagon wheels”.
While the majority of their fellow Hylian inventors were impressed and acknowledged that the build could be useful for getting up sheer walls or cliffs, user Far-Conversation-621 pointed out that it might be quicker to create a lift using ultra hand and recall abilities.
In response, PixelatedFrogDotGif pointed out that, unlike this simple solution, their creation “can be modified to crawl (around) curves and or go wicked high up (as far as the game’s maximum Fuse height),” with the latter being demonstrated in the video accompanying a separate post from them.
They also revealed that another plus point of their design is that it won’t encounter any issues if you run out of power while operating it, with the lift platform simply locking in place once it runs out of juice, rather than sending you plummeting to your doom.
