Genshin Impact features various activities, but one of the most exciting is Exploration. While achieving 100% exploration is rewarding, not all areas are created equal as some are far more difficult to explore fully.

Exploration in the world of Teyvat is indeed a demanding task, leading players through various puzzles, enemies, objects, and materials. However, it also provides valuable resources, like Primogems, to use on Gacha banners.

With seven nations already released, players have an abundance to explore. For those seeking a true challenge, here are the 10 most difficult areas to achieve 100% exploration in Genshin Impact.

1. Dragonspine

Located in Mondstadt, Dragonspine, historically known as Vindagnyr, is a vast mountain engulfed in ancient ruins and snow-capped areas. It also contains the remains of Durin.

The snow never melts here, and due to the extreme cold, it is considered one of the most dangerous places in Mondstadt.

Without a source of heat, a Scarlet Quartz, or standing near a waypoint of the Statue of the Seven, players can suffer severe damage and eventually die from the cold.

Additionally, the treasure compass doesn't work in Dragonspine, and exploration is tricky due to indoor areas and challenging vertical terrain. The added complexity makes this region even more difficult to navigate.

So, to achieve 100% exploration, players must either use an interactive map or simply run around the area until they find something.

2. Inazuma's Watatsumi Island

Watatsumi Island is an area in Inazuma, located at the farthest, opposite end of Narukami Island. It is known for its dense foliage and breathtaking colors.

However, something sinister hides behind its beauty.

The area is filled with complex underwater puzzles, multi-layered terrain, and intricate quests. Watatsumi Island's maze-like structure makes exploration even more difficult.

That said, players must be patient to achieve 100% exploration here.

3. The Chasm

A subregion of Liyue, The Chasm is an entirely underground area with multiple layers that players must consider when navigating the map.

Due to these layers, it's easy to get lost, so players need to pay close attention while exploring. These factors, along with its underground mines and interconnected cave systems, make The Chasm challenging to navigate.

With numerous hidden areas, elevation changes, and rare oculi that are hard to find, it requires much patience to achieve 100% exploration here.

Players must also use the Lumenstone Adjuvant gadget, which provides light and helps solve the puzzles in this subregion.

Players need to level up the gadget to unlock its full potential by collecting Lumenspar and offering it to an NPC named Jiwu.

4. Enkanomiya

Enkanomiya, originally known as Byakuyakoku and Tokoyokoku, is a region in Inazuma.

Reaching this place is already tricky, so exploring it is even more challenging. Players can access it through a deep pool east of Sangonomiya Shrine.

Since it is located beneath Watatsumi Island, there is speculation that it is somewhat disconnected from Teyvat and part of the Dark Sea.

The hidden underwater realm's alternating light and dark mechanics affect puzzle solutions and exploration.

Players must carefully track their movements to avoid getting lost. Additionally, three secret islands can only be discovered after meeting specific criteria.

These things make uncovering all of Enkanomiya's secrets a big challenge.

5. Sumeru

Renowned as Teyvat's center of learning, Sumeru features both deserts and forests.

This region is so vast that it contains several subareas, making it one of the most challenging regions in Teyvat to achieve 100% exploration.

While the forests are relatively easy to explore, the deserts present an entirely different challenge. They contain numerous underground areas that can be confusing to access without completing world quests.

Several areas and puzzles are also locked behind world quests, including the infamous Aranara quest. If players manage to explore this region, it is already a significant achievement in its own right.

6. Tsurumi Island

Another area located in Inazuma is Tsurumi Island, known for being shrouded in dense fog.

It's home to two ancient civilizations: the Pre-Thunderbird Civilization and the Thunderbird Civilization. After undergoing a partial regrowth, the land has been inhabited by hilichurls, rift wolves, and automatons.

Due to the poor visibility and tricky enemy placements, Tsurumi Island has become challenging to navigate.

The environmental puzzles that change after completing certain quests make achieving 100% exploration even more challenging.

As a result, it takes a significant amount of time before players can finally complete their quests here.

7. Inazuma's Seirai Island

An area in Inazuma, Seirai Island is said to have experienced a calamity. Its center is enveloped by a perpetual thunderstorm, resulting in the island's unique geography.

It is often afflicted by Balethunder, causing lightning to target players. Electrified water also persists, although it can be cleared by completing a nearby puzzle, which plays a significant role later on.

With that said, Seirai Island's stormy atmosphere, coupled with electro-charged hazards, makes it difficult to explore.

The hidden underground areas also make it one of the most complicated islands in Inazuma to achieve 100% exploration.

Therefore, if players manage to complete this area, they can surely conquer everything.

8. Mondstadt's Stomterror's Lair

Stormterror's Lair is a subarea located in Brightcrown Mountains, Mondstadt.

Once a capital of the Old Mondstadt, it's protected by a storm barrier, preventing players from entering until they complete Archon Quest Hurdle in Prologue: Act III - Song of the Dragon and Freedom.

So, with its floating platforms, elevated structures, and destructible walls, only creative and keen players can manage to explore Stormterror's Lair.

Many may not have the patience to achieve 100% exploration here, but uncovering all its hidden treasures is definitely rewarding.

9. Fontaine

A traveling merchant named Francis describes Fontaine as "true beauty and elegance," thanks to the continent's scenic bodies of water.

While Fontaine may appear smaller than other central regions, it has much to offer in terms of exploration.

Players can find chests and puzzles on land that lead them onboard an airship as part of an extended puzzle or challenge.

On the other hand, players must use various animals' abilities to complete underwater puzzles, which are presented as timed challenges and often lead them into underwater caves.

Although it's relatively easy to keep track of unexplored areas in Fontaine, players may need to go underwater if they can't find anything on land.

10. Golden Apple Archipelago

The Golden Apple Archipelago, located east of Mondstadt, is a limited-time summer event area that appeared in Versions 1.6 and 2.8.

It's historically known as the Haar Islands and consists of a set of islands. During its limited-time availability, this area featured complex, puzzle-heavy islands with multi-phase challenges and ever-changing landscapes that made navigation difficult.

Given the time constraints, it is widely believed that not many players could achieve 100% exploration here.

Which of these areas have you already explored? If you manage to achieve 100% exploration here, you are probably one of the best Genshin Impact players.
