The Oceanid of Qingce - Overview and Location
The Oceanid of Qingce is a Boss located in the Liyue region, in the middle of the furthest lake east to Qingce Village. She looks like a large, blue fairy that flies around the arena where we challenge her. After she’s defeated, the player must consume 40 Original Resin to claim her drops, which consist of various Artifacts and Ascension Materials for several Hydro characters.
The Oceanid of Qingce - Abilities and Attacks
The Oceanid summons various different water animals that must be fought and defeated in order to harm the boss. There are 8 different types of mimics in total that can be spawned by Oceanid. Each type has a decreased resistance to a certain element. You'll need to fight five or six waves of animals before the boss is defeated.
The hydro mimics will appear singly, in twos, or in threes. Some are worse than others. The ducks, for instance, have a constant wave of water surrounding them, and the boars can heal themselves. Here are all the different mimics:
- Crane
- Azure Cranes attack the player from afar, flapping their wings to create powerful Hydro waves. If approached, they may back off, much like Fatui bracers. Any attacks will suffice, but beware of the waves.
- Raptor
- Flying birds who swoop down on the player to inflict heavy damage. Your ranged characters will come in handy here, or else you'll need to time attacks right with their dives.
- Mallard Duck
- Ducks with a Hydro aura around them that deals rapid damage to players inside them. Freeze them and attack them up close.
- Crab
- Crabs walk sideways around the player, spewing bubbles that deal light but rapid Hydro damage. They occasionally stop once in a while to rest before moving on. Use this as an opening to attack.
- Boar
- These boars tend to ram the player up close, and can heal themselves. Focus on one at a time.
- Frogs
- Frogs can shoot a jet of water at players, or jump at them. It is recommended to get rid of them first if they appear with other mimics. They are weaker to Geo.
- Finch
- The finch will jump at you, and has a huge AoE damage. It is best to hit it with ranged attacks. They are weaker to Geo.
- Squirrel
- These squirrels perform rapid swipes against the player. Avoid their attacks, and then jump into attack them.
While fighting the Oceanid, you'll notice that it doesn't just use attacks to give you a hard time. On top of the watery fiends, there are three other obstacles to avoid.
- Sinking Platform
- After clearing two waves of Hydro Mimics, the Oceanid will select two random tiles in the 3x3 grid and sink them. This will deal moderate damage if caught in its AoE.
- Submerge
- The Oceanid submerges for a period of time, before resurfacing again.
- Whirlpool
- If the Hydro Mimics are not defeated in a certain amount of time, the Oceanid creates a whirlpool below the player that follows them, deals DoT damage, and explodes after a while, dealing massive damage.
The Oceanid of Qingce - Fight Strategy
For this fight, you will need at least one Cryo character, ranged characters, and a healer. The Hydro mimics can deal some serious damage, so you'll need to be protected.
It is massively recommended that you have two Cryo characters in your party, to keep everything frozen as much as possible. This will allow you to get close and to perform strong attacks, without worrying about getting battered. Having two characters to swap between means you can pretty much keep things permanently frozen.
Cryo also gels nicely with Pyro and Electro to deal heavy damage. Ideally, ranged characters like Yanfei, Klee, or Yae Miko will help massively here. Fischl or Kujou Sara will work well, too. In terms of on-the-ground attackers, Kequing is a solid bet for this fight in terms of Electro. Kuki Shinobu can fulfill the Electro attacker and healer roll, too.
Players can actually get this fight done well with the free-to-play characters Noelle, Kaeya, Amber, and Lisa. Providing they're leveled up enough, the ranged and Cryo attacks will take care of the enemies, and Noelle can protect and heal.
The Oceanid of Qingce - Rewards
Depending on your World Level, you will obtain different rewards after defeating Rhodeia of Loch. What you get will vary in amount and rarity depending on that, but the list of usual rewards is Varunada Lazurite Slivers, Fragments, Chunks or Gemstones, and Cleansing Hearts.
In terms of Artifact drops, you can get items from a few sets. These are Adventurer, Berserker, The Exile, Gladiator's Finale, Prayers For Destiny, and Wanderer's Troupe.
