Everyone loves a conflicted character, and the Fatui Harbinger Childe, also known as Tartaglia, fits this perfectly. So let's take a look at what the best Genshin Impact Tartaglia build is.
Born and raised in the nation of Snezhnaya, this enigmatic character shows up initially as an ally, but the truth seems to involve more than meets the eye. Is his name Tartaglia? Is it Childe? I don’t really know or care, but this bad boy for sure is one of the best DPS in the game and by far the one I've had the most fun playing.

His banner will rerun from November 18 - December 7, 2022, alongside newcomer Layla.
What are the best Tartaglia Builds?
Tartaglia is a DPS that belongs in the frontline, like Diluc or Xiao. His Elemental Skill changes the character’s melee gameplay from ranged to close combat, which makes it extremely fun to play and also really versatile on the battlefield. Our approach, similar to Diluc’s, will be aggressive DPS builds that accompany that style.
Below are two of the best Tartaglia builds right now. You can keep reading to find out the hows and whys of these particular Tartaglia builds, but if you've used him before, you'll quickly understand the thought process behind his best weapon and artifact choices.
Role | Best Weapon | Alternative Weapon | Best Artifacts | Alternative Artifacts |
---|---|---|---|---|
Hydro DPS Build | Skyward Harp | Rust | Heart of Depth (4 Pieces) | Heart of Depth (2 Pieces) & Noblesse Oblige (2 Pieces) |
Pure DPS Build | The Stringless | The Viridescent Hunt | Noblesse Oblige (4 Pieces) | Wanderer's Troupe (4 Pieces) |
Hydro DPS Build
Both Skyward Harp or Rust are really good for Tartaglia, so the choice ends up being a matter of what can you afford to get first, really. That being said, it does change what kind of Artifact setup you should use. Since using the Rust bow with a full Heart of Depth set makes no sense, a hybrid setup would be more adequate.
The Heart of Depth set skills makes it the perfect choice for this build. However, if you use the Rust bow, you won’t be using as many charged attacks, so you may focus on a boost to Elemental Burst Damage mixing two pieces of Heart of Depth and Noblesse Oblige.
Pure DPS Build
Both The Stringless or The Viridescent Hunt work especially well with Childe’s gameplay, so it’s reduced to a matter of which you would choose: The Stringless boosting the Elemental Skill/Burst damage or The Viridescent Hunt with its special ability that brings a good crowd control tool.
In this build, the Noblesse Oblige set is the best option since it not only boosts the Elemental Burst damage but also buffs our party members. However, if you can’t complete the set, Wanderer’s troupe is a more than decent replacement.
What are the best team comps for Tartaglia?
Tartaglia is a great Main DPS that can work either solo or as part of a team if you're smart about the companions you put him with. Bennett and Fischl serve as great Sub-DPS units capable of triggering numerous Elemental Reactions. Last, Jean provides the Support and Healing that this team needs, along with some great Swirl Reactions.
Character | Element |
---|---|
Childe | Hydro |
Bennett | Pyro |
Fischl | Electro |
Jean | Anemo |
What are the best Weapons for Tartaglia?
Weapons like the Skyward Harp and The Viridescent Hunt are the best options for their respective builds. However, you can also find more affordable and equally good alternatives in the form of the Rust and The Stringless. Last but not least, if you’re looking for a craftable option, you can obtain the Compound Bow if you still don’t have any of the former.
