Introduced during Inazuma's story, Thoma made a burning entrance to Genshin Impact. But what is the best Genshin Impact Thoma build?
A native of Mondstadt that now lives in Inazuma, Thoma is the Kamisato Housekeeper, helping everyone with a smile and trying to resolve every situation peacefully. On the battlefield, however, Thoma also works as a great DPS unit with AoE attacks that can help you to keep crowded groups of enemies controlled as you fight them.

What Are the Best Thoma Builds?
As a DPS, Thoma has access to many AoE skills, and given his defensive abilities he can take on large groups without getting too worn out, which is really useful in combat if you find yourself in a tight situation.
Below are two of the best Thoma builds right now. You can keep reading to find out the hows and whys of these particular Thoma builds, but if you've used him before, you'll quickly understand the thought process behind his best weapon and artifact choices.
Role | Best Weapon | Alternative Weapon | Best Artifacts | Alternative Artifacts |
---|---|---|---|---|
Pyro Support Build | Staff of Homa | Skyward Spine | Noblesse Oblige (4 Pieces) | The Exile (4 Pieces) |
Pyro DPS Build | Staff of Homa | Deathmatch | Crimson Witch of Flames (4 Pieces) | - |
Pyro Support Build
For a Supporter setup, either the Staff of Homa or Skyward Spine works excellently by boosting your Energy Recharge. Either Artifact set is equally useful for this setup, and your choice between buffing your party members’ Attack or Energy Regeneration should depend on how your team is built.
Pyro DPS Build
In this build, the Staff of Homa is the best choice, but the Deathmatch works greatly as a replacement since the former can be difficult to obtain. The Crimson Witch of Flames set comes in handy by boosting Pyro damage and increasing the Elemental Reactions damage as well, and the cherry on top is an extra buff to the first bonus after using an elemental skill, which, as you now know, will happen very often.
What Are the Best Team Comps for Thoma?
Thoma’s capability as a Support/DPS hybrid unit works really well no matter how we build his setup, but the approach may change depending on his companions. Thoma and Fischl are great as partners since they can help boost any Main DPS unit's damage output while also triggering Elemental Reactions such as Vaporize or Superconduct. To complete the team, a support unit like Jean or Zhongli can provide the necessary sustain to make everyone feel a bit safer.
Character | Element |
---|---|
Eula/Tartaglia/Hu Tao | Cryo/Hydro/Hu Tao |
Thoma | Pyro |
Fischl | Electro |
Zhongli/Jean | Geo/Anemo |

Weapons that boost Energy Recharge like Engulfing Lightning and Skyward Spine are the best options for Thoma, but you can also find a more affordable and equally good alternative in the form of the Deathmatch.
