GTA 6 hasn’t been subtle about the game’s setting being influenced by Florida, as all the crocodiles and wildlife shows. It’s a great way to get some of that parody writing in there, given this U.S. state’s crazy reputation over the years. This setting might not change the gameplay much, but there’s plenty of story potential here.

Since the Florida-like setting is playing a huge role, GTA 6 should have some tropical storm missions in there. This state in North America has survived its fair share of storms, so playing through them would be inspired. Aside from adding mission variety, this would also add some heart to all that parody writing, making the setting feel more lived-in.

Previous screenshots of the game have shown potential forest fires, so it looks like Rockstar is already using the weather for gameplay purposes. If forest fires can happen, we think tropical storms aren’t that far off. Both are natural disasters, obviously, but they also present some unique gameplay opportunities that could lead to great story moments.

Floods are a pretty normal thing in Florida, so a mission where Jason or Lucia have to move things out to prepare for the storm would add some urgency. Encountering crocodiles while trying to survive a tropical storm also presents unique gameplay opportunities. If anything else, this brings some variety to the gameplay and can be used for some powerful narrative beats.

These potential missions in GTA 6 would fit that “cinematic” approach that has mixed opinions from fans. Sony is probably the guiltiest party when it comes to making their games feel like films. Rockstar has always had that feeling in their writing, and their most recent games had cinematic missions in them, so this entry will definitely capitalize on all that.

Beyond all of that, playing through floods, storms, and forest fires will actually make this open-world title feel unique. Due to the lack of pure gameplay footage, we don’t know how this game is going to stand out from its predecessors. While there’s nothing wrong with being a huge sandbox filled with fun activities, some players do want a bit more than this.

Only time will tell if GTA 6 will feel any different from previous games, but natural disasters and tropical storms could give it some variety. It would fit the setting well, and even presents big story moments that could happen in the game. We do hope that the weather and what comes after will affect plenty of missions in this anticipated project.
