During its near-decade of existence, GTA Online has evolved a lot, with fads and trends rising and falling just as regularly as they do in the real world.
Whether it’s the once-ubiquitous Adder disappearing from the streets in favour of other supercars, or newer heists turning the lobbies of formerly popular missions into ghost towns, the forces of change constantly ravage the streets of Los Santos.
Perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise that there are those in the fanbase who long for the return of certain features that have been phased out of the game over the years. It’s these people who’ve gathered on Reddit to support each other as they wait for Rockstar to take heed.
Which Old GTA Online Features Do You Miss?
Posting in the GTA Online subreddit, user noodlesvonsoup began the thread by lamenting: “I miss blowing the rear doors off armoured trucks and stealing the money” before asking other players what they miss from the game’s past.
User ProtoBirb’s most missed features were similar, with them saying: “Crate drops and the random armoured trucks that would appear around the map. I miss the crate drops more, it was (a) good incentive for people to interact with each other, even if it was all just a mad dash to collec it.”
User Saaswalker suggested that these mad dashes simply wouldn’t be as fun if they were brought back nowadays, due to the loss of a more important feature in balanced PvP fights.
Meanwhile, user MelkortheDankLord singled out a mission that has fallen from prominence, saying: “Rockets vs insurgents. No one plays it anymore”, which led Nodog99 to reply: “damn I guess (only) the OG ones remember sniper vs stunters”.
The desires of some users were more automotive, with Yann2850 declaring their love for GTA Online’s now ex-mechanic “good ol' Johnny on the spot”, to which user ruinenfelder responded: “I miss him too, especially because of that one time he drove my bike off a bridge into the freeway and killed himself.”
On the other hand, user OneBingToRuleThemAll just wants Santa to go back to being more kind, saying: “Getting actually decent free stuff on Christmas. Still surprised they gave the RC tank away for free back then.”
Sadly, the likelihood of any of these features making a return seems slim, but at least GTA players can cherish the memories of better days. Plus, while they’re doing so, they can make sure to follow us for more GTA Online updates as new content is released.
