Will Alan Wake 2 have New Game Plus?
Yes, Alan Wake 2 is getting New Game Plus and it's coming on December 11, 2023, at 6 PM GMT. Courtesy of a blog post from Remedy, the studio announced that the feature is due to be added to the game imminently, as part of "The Final Draft" update.
Also coming in this update will be some performance fixes and optimisations for Alan Wake 2, but it's clear that the centrepiece of the content release is the addition of New Game Plus and all that it includes. We've got all the details of what's coming down below.
What will be included in Alan Wake 2’s New Game Plus?
Choosing to play Alan Wake 2 in New Game Plus will allow you to start a new playthrough while keeping your weapons, Charms, and Words of Power upgrades from your previous run of the game. This is the standard when it comes to New Game Plus features, but Final Draft does include a few bonuses.
For starters, you’ll have the option of going through the survival horror game again on a new Nightmare difficulty level. Alternative narratives will also become available alongside six new Manuscript pages and new video content that will show up on specific TVs in the Dark Place.
Players will retain all their weapons, charms, and character upgrades earned in their first playthrough to help them tackle the new Nightmare Difficulty setting. Consequently, players will have to complete a playthrough of Alan Wake 2 to unlock the New Game Plus game mode. If you've been holding off on finishing the game, this is your sign to do so.
