To survive in the Dark Place, you’re going to have to find a reliable source of light. In this guide, we’ll be going over how to use your torch in Alan Wake 2 to help you light up your way to the end of the game.
Alan Wake 2 allows you to play as two different characters, each with their own narrative. You will be using the torch a lot in both cases, so it’s best to come into the game prepared.
Speaking of coming prepared, you might also want to take a look at how to heal in Alan Wake 2. While you’re at it, you may as well look up how to arm yourself with the sawed-off shotgun and crossbow.
How to use the torch in Alan Wake 2
The torch in Alan Wake 2 can be turned on and off with a single tap of a button. Here’s what you need to press for each platform:
- PlayStation 5 - Circle
- Xbox Series X|S - B
- PC - E
While active, the torch will provide a small cone of light to help you see things in the dark better. Using the torch this way will not deplete its battery. To shut the torch off, simply tap the button again.
How to use the torch in combat in Alan Wake 2
The torch in Alan Wake 2 is more than just a tool that helps you navigate through poorly lit areas. You can also use your torch to reveal enemies known as the Taken, while exposing their weaknesses.
To do this, you can press the following buttons:
- PlayStation 5 - R1
- Xbox Series X|S - RB
- PC - middle mouse button
This will send out a burst of light from your torch that will get rid of an enemy’s shield in one go. However, you should keep in mind that using your torch like this will drain its battery, so make sure you pick up any spares you find lying around.
