How to unlock multiclass in Baldur's Gate 3
The only requirement to multiclass in Baldur's Gate 3 is to play on any difficulty above the Explorer difficulty. Multiclassing is disabled in the Explorer difficulty, probably to help not confuse new players who are still figuring out the game's base systems. A workaround for this is to switch up to a higher difficulty, then multiclass, and then swap back to Explorer.
As for multiclass in Baldur's Gate 3, all you really need to do is level up. Once you're on the level-up screen, you'll notice a button on the top right side of your character card on the left. Hover over this button, and it will say "Add Class". Click it, and you will be led to a screen displaying all the available classes in the game. You can now add any class to your build and easily multiclass in Baldur's Gate 3.
Multiclass tips in Baldur's Gate 3
Here are a few helpful tips and suggestions to keep in mind when you multiclass in Baldur's Gate 3.
- Whenever you add a new class, you will always start at level 1, regardless of your base class.
- You won't get all the proficiencies of a newly added class, and you can check these in the bottom right corner whenever you hover over a multiclass choice.
- You gain class skills whenever you add a new class to your character.
- You also gain all the class features for the level you're at with that particular class.
- The Rogue class gives you one skill and two expertise, which is quite valuable for doubling two proficiencies.
- The Ranger offers a lot of proficiencies and is considered a strong class to multiclass into.
- Multiclassing sorcerers is usually a bad idea, because they require class levels to be at maximum effectiveness and do not add to your spell cap.
- You can stack effects like extra attacks by mixing the warrior classes.
