Can't quite figure out how to get to Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3? This low-level area will be one of the first key locations you visit in your adventure. No too soon after clearing the prologue and fleshing out your party, you'll find reason to head to the sprawling labyrinthine network.

With plenty of sights to see, just getting there won't be the end of your troubles: it's just where we'll be leaving you to figure things out for yourself. We wouldn't want to spoil too much. How to get to Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3

If you're not used to point-and-click RPG systems, figuring out how to get to Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3 can be your first proper test.

Because you can interact with much more of the world than you might otherwise expect, you need to learn quickly that accomplishing much can be done in multiple ways—many of which won't seem simple or intuitive until you've done them a couple of times.

How to get to Underdark via the Defiled Temple

To reach Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3, you have myriad options depending on your current location. The first relates to simply making your way through the Defiled Temple. You should find yourself here through the Find the Nightsong or Removing the Parasite quests. Refer to our BD3 quest list for more info.

How to get to Underdark via Zhentarim Hideout

Another option is to go through the Zhentarim Hideout. You'll wind up visiting the location while on the quest Find the Missing Shipment. As it unlocks upgraded vendor options, it's a good sidequest to clear while you're making your way to Underdark.

To reach Underdark from the Zhentarim Hideout, you'll first need to know how to pickpocket. Use the skill on Karad to grab the Mechanical Key and head through the illusion wall behind the guard dog. In there, you'll find the Underdark Elevator, with the key you just got serving to unlock it.

Other routes to Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3

Some less-trodden routes to Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3 appear to be a low shortcut via the Spider Tunnel, and a teleporter from the Overgrown Tunnel. These were present in the early access version, but we haven't been able to test them in the full release.
