In the world of anime style RPGs, a lot of the ones that have been released in the last few years have been completely free to play. With the upcoming release of a brand new RPG from a major studio, we have to ask the same question. Is Blue Protocol free to play?
Blue Protocol is an anime, cel-shaded RPG created by Bandi Namco and publishing in the west by Amazon Games. It's an online multiplayer RPG that's set to release across multiple regions and multiple platforms in 2023, which could make it a go-to multiplayer anime experience.

Is Blue Protocol free to play?
According to both Bandai Namco and Amazon Games, Blue Protocol will be a free-to-play game when it releases on PC and current-gen consoles in 2023. There's a huge sigh of relief there, but it raises questions elsewhere. More on that later.
Amazon Games has had its fingers in a couple of big online games in recent years. Beyond its in-house efforts with the paid New World MMORPG, the relatively new publishing arm also brought Lost Ark over from South Korea in 2022 as a free-to-play action RPG.
Almost following in those footsteps, it's pulling the long-in-development Blue Protocol over from Japan so that it launches in the West virtually as soon as it does in the East.
As for how you'll be able to get your hands on Blue Protocol, that hasn't been revealed just yet. Both New World and Lost Ark are available on Steam despite having their own log-in launchers, though, so we're relatively certain Amazon Games will go that route rather than trying to get us to install another storefront to manage our accounts.
