The first thing you should know is that your house is one of the things you can choose in Hogwarts Legacy. While it'd be determined by the sorting hat in the Harry Potter world normally, you're given the freedom to choose it yourself in Hogwarts Legacy. The choosing hat will initially say what it thinks you should be but you have the freedom to choose if you don't like it.

There are four houses to opt for in the game, as you'd expect, and below is the list:

As you can see, houses in Hogwarts Legacy are based on the houses in the Harry Potter books and movies. In the game, they work like factions that give you unique skins and companions.

If you want to do it early, however, you can also connect your Harry Potter Fan Club account with your WB Games account to choose house before the game comes out. Doing so will net you a unique School Robe and a special mask once the game comes out, so it's worth looking into if you're already sure of your choice.

Below we've detailed what we know so far about the differences between the four houses in-game.

Ravenclaw

At the time of writing, we know that you can use bronze and blue robes and scarves if you choose Ravenclaw as your house in Hogwarts Legacy.

Although there is no official confirmation about Ravenclaw companions, you are likely to have another student as a companion by joining Ravenclaw.

Hufflepuff

Hufflepuff is the second house in Hogwarts Legacy. By joining it, you will be able to use the black and yellow cloth to stand out among other house members.

Also, each Hufflepuff member will be able to have a Poppy Sweeting as a companion, with others to be revealed once the game is released.

Slytherin

Like any other house in Hogwarts Legacy, Slytherin provides you with a unique companion and outfit. The only revealed companion at the moment of writing is Sebastian Swallow, but we'll get information on more soon.

Also, Slytherin features silver and green robes and scarves, making it the best option if you like pride and intelligence.

Gryffindor

Gryffindor includes thousands of unique students, all wearing gold and red outfits. Another feature of the Gryffindor house is that it allows you to have Natsai Onai as a companion. Again, expect more companions to be revealed as Hogwarts Legacy gets closer to release.
