Our Dead By Daylight Leatherface build guide goes over everything you need to know about one of the best licensed Killers.

An iconic killer from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Leatherface (Bubba Sawyer) is a chainsaw-wielding killer in Dead by Daylight. Having a heavy-hitting kit, Leatherface offers tricky gameplay for his players.

Leatherface is referred to as the Cannibal in Dead by Daylight, but we'll use his movie name for this guide. While Leatherface is generally regarded as a weak killer, this handy guide will help you become a strong force to be reckoned with. Here are Leatherface's best perks, powers, add-ons, and tips to make you stand out from the crowd.

Dead by Daylight Leatherface perks

Leatherface has three unique perks that can be unlocked for other Killers via the Bloodweb.

Knockout

When you down a Survivor with your basic attack, their field of view (FOV) is decreased, they gain the Blindness status effect and crawl 50% slower for 15 seconds. Survivors are not able to see the knocked-down Survivor’s aura farther away from them than 32/24/16 meters.

BBQ & Chilli

Each time a Survivor is hooked, all other Survivor Auras are revealed to you for four seconds if they are a few meters away from the hook’s location.

Franklin’s Demise

When hit with a basic attack, Survivors will drop their items and if not recovered within 150/120/90 seconds, they’ll become lost to the Entity.

What is the best Dead by Daylight Cannibal build?

We would go with the following perks for the best possible Leatherface build:

BBQ & Chilli (The Cannibal perk)

After hooking a survivor, all other survivors within 60/50/40 meters will be revealed to the Cannibal for four seconds.

Bamboozle

This perk increases the Cannibals' vault speed by 5/10/15%. Vaulting a window will also be blocked by the Entity for a few seconds.

Ultimate Weapon

Whenever you open a Locker, Ultimate Weapon activates for 30 seconds: Survivors entering your Terror Radius scream and reveal their location to you. Those Survivors suffer from the Blindness Status Effect for 30 seconds.

Nowhere to Hide

Your anger forces Survivors to reveal themselves. Performing the damage Generator Action on a Generator triggers Nowhere to Hide. The Auras of all Survivors within 24 metres of your position are revealed to you for a few seconds.

Alternative Dead By Daylight Leatherface builds

The horrifying Cannibal that wears the face of his victims and uses a deadly chainsaw to eviscerate can usually instantly down his victims, which makes him a dangerous Killer to face. Here are other builds that you can use to make him more terrifying than ever.

  • Iron Maiden (The Legion)
  • Hex: The Third Seal (The Hag)
  • Knockout (The Cannibal)
  • Scourge Hook: Monstrous Shrine

This build first prevents Survivors from reading Auras which they will use to avoid Killers or help out others who might need aid.

Knockout also prevents the victim from getting revealed to their friends making it easier for you to handle them. In case Survivors hide in lockers, Iron Maiden will make it faster for them to come out therefore putting them in a Dying State instantly.

  • Enduring
  • Barbecue & Chili
  • Brutal Strength
  • Iron Grasp

Dead By Daylight basic attack Leatherface build

Leatherface is widely known for his gruesome chainsaw but his basic attack is usually more effective when catching Survivors. This build centres around that.

  • Save The Best For Last (The Shape)
  • Monitor and Abuse (The Doctor)
  • Discordance (The Legion)
  • Coup de Grace (The Twins)

At the start of the trial, Discordance will help you locate your victims. Save the Best for Last gives you more speed as you let go of your Obsession, which gives you a higher chance to catch up to other Survivors instead. Coup de Grace will give you more strength even if the generators are completed.

Dead by Daylight Leatherface powers

Leatherface’s power is called Bubba’s Chainsaw. When you first enter a Trial, Bubba’s Chainsaw has three charges. Using the chainsaw for two seconds uses one of the charges. The charges for this power replenish when it is not in use.

When Survivors are hit via by chainsaw attack, they’ll immediately be put into a Dying state.

Revving Bubba’s Chainsaw increases the Tantrum meter. Once full or after hitting an obstacle during a Chainsaw Sweep, Leatherface will spiral into a Tantrum and slash and hit wildly - putting Survivors in a Dying state if they get close. However, Leatherface’s movement speed is tremendously decreased during a Tantrum - making it easier for Survivors to rush away.

Best add-ons for Leatherface in Dead By Daylight

Leatherface is an average Killer in every sense of the word. He has an average Movement Speed, and while his power is something to be scared of when up close and personal with him, he doesn’t have the finesse of The Huntress nor the calculating of The Trapper. Still, some Add-Ons can help him against Survivors.

Iridescent Flesh

This add-on lets Leatherface’s charges replenish each time he hits a survivor. This is incredibly useful if survivors are clumped together, allowing you to hit multiple survivors with one chainsaw sweep.

Light Chassis

While revving Bubba’s Chainsaw, you’re able to see the auras of survivors within eight meters of you.

Award-Winning Chilli

This add-on slightly increases the duration of the chainsaw dash and the window for the chainsaw dash by 0.5 seconds.

Begrimed Chains

This add-on causes survivors to drop their items when Leatherface hits them.

Dead By Daylight Leatherface tips and tricks

  • Leatherface can bait survivors to drop a pallet by revving his chainsaw, but make sure not to get stunned by it. Then use your power on the pallet to break it and continue with your Chase.
  • You want to try your best to get survivors out in the open and away from places you're not good at with your chainsaw - aka windows and vaults. That's why Bamboozle is a very good perk on Leatherface, as it blocks the areas that most Survivors use to escape from you.
  • If survivors enter lockers during a chase, bump into them and cause a tantrum. If the Survivors leave the locker, they'll be immediately downed. On the other hand, if they don't leave, you can just grab them out of the locker instead.
  • Don't rely too much on Bubba's Chainsaw. Perform basic attacks from time to time. Sometimes you will miss hits with your chainsaw. An injured survivor is better than a healthy one.
  • Hook survivors in the basement whenever you can. It's a tight area, and you can use your chainsaw Sweep to knock down more than one survivor if used correctly. Tight areas with multiple Survivors are your one-way ticket to winning the trial.
