Unfortunately, unlike most games, there is no setting to change the difficulty in Dead Island 2. This was also the case in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide.

While this may seem disappointing, it's worth noting that the difficulty increases as you climb through the levels. The higher your level, the harder the zombies.

To combat this lack of difficulty settings in the game though, you can choose a good Slayer and maximize the potential of Skill Cards which help improve damage. We suggest that you select Amy as a slayer for superior agility. This would certainly help you. You can also upgrade weapons and add perks or enhancements at the Workbench to make your progress much easier.

Additionally, the Dodge ability is also very useful. You can press L1/LB to roll out of the enemy's way to dodge attacks. You'll avoid getting unnecessary damage if you use this ability well.

Despite having these tricks, upgrades, and enhancements, you should still watch out because you might find yourself trying to slay that one annoying Mutator over and over again if you don't have the right abilities equipped and the strongest weaponry.
