The undead you come across are split into three categories, basic infected, Variants, and Apex.
Infected are the most common types of zombies you'll come across in Hell-A. Shamblers are the slowest moving making them rather straightforward to eliminate while Walkers move at a slightly faster speed. The fastest-moving zombies are the Runners and while you might struggle to land the first few hits, remember you can target their legs thanks to the FLESH system to stop their rapid movement.

The category above Infected is Variants. These zombie types are slightly stronger versions of the zombies in the Infected category. For example, a Grenade Walker is a standard walker armed with a grenade leading to an explosive result if you're not careful.
To make Runners even more lethal, Spiky Runners are covered with shards of glass, barbed wire, and other sharp implements allowing them to cause even more destruction when running in your direction. Lastly, Inferno Crushers are more than capable of ending your mission with a few swipes. In addition to their immense strength, they're also on fire meaning your fire mods have no affect.
Sitting at the top of the zombie food chain is the Apex category containing the strongest of the undead that has everything they need to make your stay in Hell-A even worse. Screamers are arguably the most infuriating. Their ear-piercing screech alerts all nearby zombies to their location making any fight more challenging.
Alongside the Scremaers are Slobbers which launch sticky slime to block any potential escape routes to safety. If you're going to take on an Apex, make sure you're prepared with plenty of weaponry and med kits so you make it out alive.
