Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been released as a PlayStation 5 (PS5) exclusive on June 26, 2025. The game is known as a walking, traveling, or delivery simulator (with a fantastic narrative), taking in as much of the environment as possible. However, any form of fast travel is always welcome for quickly reaching far-off locations. If you are looking to learn how to fast travel, then you've come to the right place.
In the first Death Stranding, you have the option to fast travel to get from point A to B with the use of Fragile Jumps. However, you won't be able to take the cargo you have with you; it will be left in the personal locker. No vehicles can be transported, either. Death Stranding 2 has improved the mechanics, making fast travel more efficient.
How to Fast Travel in Death Stranding 2
There are a few ways to fast travel in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. You can use the DHV Magellan, Transponders, and the Hot Spring Jump to get to other locations quickly.
DHV Magellan
The DHV Magellan is a ship used as a mobile base by Drawbridge, thanks to the technological and financial support of an anonymous benefactor. It can travel through tar and Beaches, but can only do so within the Chiral Network. This will be your primary mode of fast travel in Death Stranding 2.
To unlock the DHV Magellan, you will need to complete Order 12: Investigate Unusual Tar Currents Near F1. This is given to the players upon arrival at the Musician's base. Play through the mission; I recommend being prepared, as a boss battle is ahead. You will then connect West Fort Knot to the Chiral Network. Once Sam wakes up, Tarman will let you know that fast travel is now available to connected facilities, which you can do from the map as well.
- Press and hold the X button to "Chart Course."
- Select a location where the Magellan has previously visited, ones that are connected to the Chiral Network, which is marked with a blue ship icon. (Take note that you can change continents using the L1 and R1 buttons)
- Once confirmed, the DHV Magellan will then head to the selected location.
While this new mode of transport is convenient, offering the ability to fast travel with your cargo and vehicles (which may be particularly useful for those struggling with major deliveries), be aware that there may be consequences, such as a reduced number of likes due to using the DHV Magellan. There are also points in the game when the Magellan may be unavailable due to story events.
Transponders
Another way to fast travel in Death Stranding 2 is by using Transponders that allow you to perform a Beach Jump. This can be unlocked by the end of Chapter 6, so it will only be available after progressing through the game's story.
To unlock the Transponder, you will need to have your Personal Cargo Carrier (PCC) at Level 2. Once you have this equipped, you can then build the Transponder structure. The fabrication will start, and after it's finished, you can hold the square button and select a destination. You'll be able to fast travel to major distribution facilities and other transponders you created.
Unlike the DHV Magellan, you won't be able to bring any of your cargo with you during the jump. All of it will be placed in a private locker, designated for the Transponder you just used. Of course, you also can't bring your vehicle with you when doing a Beach Jump.
Death Stranding's charm is in its walking, running, and traveling gameplay. I recommend taking in the scenery and enjoying the peace (while it still exists).
Hot Spring Jump
I think this may be the wackiest but most entertaining way to fast travel in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Since you barely have any clothes on, do not expect to bring any cargo with you. You also can't bring your vehicles into the hot spring.
You can unlock this when you first encounter the Motherhood settlement. You will need to interact with "Put a Bucket on Your Head," which prompts the request to build more hot springs.
Once you put on the bucket in the first hot spring, you will be transported to Heartman's Lab. These hot springs do have an effect when you soak in them, such as suppressing nausea, boosting Sam's stamina, or increasing your cargo weight limit for a certain amount of time. You can also build hot springs with a few tools.
When you have unlocked these, you can use the hot springs in different locations to perform the "Hot Spring Jump." You can select your destination when the map appears.
