Destiny 2 The Final Shape doesn’t just add a host of new cinematic missions to Bungie’s brilliant FPSMMO, but also a brand-new subclass in the form of Prismatic. However, those who want to go hard with this new subclass will need to learn how to unlock Prismatic in Destiny 2 The Final Shape and how to unlock more Fragments to upgrade it.

As the finale of Destiny's original story arc, The Final Shape brings back characters such as Cayde-6 in a huge battle against the villainous Witness. Arguably more important than that, however, at least to loot-obsessed Guardians, is the arsenal of new Destiny 2 The Final Shape Exotics.

How to Get Prismatic in Destiny 2

To unlock the Prismatic subclass in Destiny 2, all you must do is complete the Transmigration, the first mission of The Final Shape expansion. This will give you access to a basic Prismatic build for your class, including abilities, Aspects, and Fragments.

Unlike the long-winded process of unlocking Stasis and Strand in the Beyond Light and Lightfall expansions respectively, unlocking Prismatic is quick and easy. Although the Destiny 2 The Final Shape missions list is quite hefty, you only need to play through the end of the first mission. However, this does mean you must own The Final Shape expansion to use Prismatic.

In this case, you’ll be able to play as the Prismatic subclass almost immediately in The Final Shape, allowing you to progress through the new campaign with a new style. This is key as Prismatic is required to beat the campaign, with certain enemies now having a new Prismatic shield that needs to be broken to make them vulnerable to your attacks. However, you’ll also need to upgrade the class as you play in order to keep up with higher-level enemies.

How to Upgrade Prismatic in Destiny 2

As you play through The Final Shape with the new Prismatic subclass, you’ll also need to perform frequent upgrades to keep up with harder and harder missions. Thankfully, progressing through the new class is generally tied to mission progress, urging players to stick with the subclass throughout the campaign.

To upgrade Prismatic, continue playing through The Final Shape campaign to earn additional Aspects and Fragments. While your new class will start with a basic loadout that can still stomp through missions, you’ll want to equip these unlockable goodies as you progress.

The Final Shape Fragments

Over the course of the new expansion, you'll be able to discover a total of 21 Fragments. While some of these fragments are reworks of already existing ones, there are also brand-new options to equip. Take a look at the full list below:

  • Facet of Balance - When rapidly defeating enemies with Light damage, you gain melee energy whereas rapidly defeating targets with Dark damage gives you grenade energy
  • Facet of Bravery - Defeating foes with your grenades buffs Void weapons with Volatile Rounds to your Void weapons whereas beating enemies with powered melee final blows bestows Strand weapons with Unraveling Rounds.
