How to drop items in Diablo 4

Once you are out exploring and complete quests, your inventory will be filling up rather quickly from all the plundering, and you'll begin to feel how limiting it is. At this point, you are going to have to let go of useless items to make way for better ones.

Dropping items is a straightforward process, but it can get confusing if you don't know what to drop. You will develop a sense of this as you keep playing the game and learn about the usability of various loot.

The process is very simple. Hold the 'I' key to open up the inventory menu, select any item you need, and drag it out of the inventory box. This will drop the item onto the floor near you and free up inventory space.

You can use this to quicken the process of organizing the inventory as well. You can always come back for dropped loot, but this is usually unnecessary.

Alternative methods of dropping items

If you're not content with just letting your loot go to waste lying in some dungeon, then it's completely understandable. However, to resolve this, you're going to need to do a lot more planning and a bit more trekking. There are a couple of options to free up inventory space efficiently and drop items in Diablo 4.

You can always go back to storage boxes and chests to stash away items that you will not be using. This requires a bit of back and forth, and you will have to remember what you stashed away; otherwise, it may just go to waste in there, never being used.

Another option is to go around and sell off your common and other useless items to merchants for a bit of gold. Merchants are found all across the world. Just make sure not to accidentally sell something that you planned on using to them.

Lastly, you can always just Salvage your common items at a blacksmith and turn them into useful crafting material such as ore. While this may not initially seem attractive, this material is required to help boost your power level in later parts of the game.
