June 2 - Now that the Diablo 4 early access period has gone live, here's everything we know about Lucky Hit.

In this guide, we will take you through what Lucky Hit in Diablo 4 is. In the impressive action RPG Diablo 4, there are many stats and effects to keep track of. It's easy to lose focus on what’s important, because of the little details. One of the stats that has been causing a lot of confusion for players is Lucky Hit.

At first glance, this particular feature may seem like it’s similar to Critical Hit, but is it really so? Lucky Hit is something entirely different. Let’s find out what Lucky Hit does in Diablo 4!

How does Lucky Hit work in Diablo 4?

In Diablo 4, Lucky Hit is a percentage chance to trigger an additional effect provided by a skill or gear item. To get Lucky Hit effects, use certain active abilities, passive skills, and gear pieces.

Always check if these have a Lucky Hit effect that can be activated by reading their descriptions. If so, you can improve your Lucky Hit chance stat to increase how frequently this effect has a chance to be triggered.

Unlike Critical Hit, which deals extra damage based on your critical hit stats, Lucky Hit does not deal extra damage. Instead, it activates any Lucky Hit effects you may have on your character.

Critical Hit Chance, on the other hand, is a percentage of your attack doing extra damage based on the total critical hit damage of 200% plus your total critical damage bonus. These two stats and values are not connected to Lucky Hit Chance at all.

It’s important to note that every skill has its own base Lucky Hit chance. Therefore, before utilising items to centre your build around Lucky Hit strikes, be sure to check your own skill's Lucky Hit chance. Some skills may have a higher base chance than others, so it’s important to choose your skills and gear items carefully to maximise your overall Lucky Hit Chance.
