How to increase inventory space in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are two ways to expand your inventory space in Disney Dreamlight Valley. You can either buy a bigger backpack with Star Coins or expand your house after a bit of questing.

Increase backpack slots

At the time of writing this guide, you can upgrade your backpack to have up to 42 inventory slots. You’ll start with 21 slots in your bag adding seven more with each upgrade.

Here’s a breakdown of how much each upgrade will cost you:

  • 28 slots – 5,000 Star Coins
  • 35 slots – 20,000 Star Coins
  • 42 slots – 50,000 Star Coins

That’s a pretty hefty amount of Star Coins so you might start to eye those bags in the clothing shop. Unfortunately, those are only for aesthetics and have no impact on your inventory space.

Expand your house

To do this, you’ll first need to reach friendship level 2 with Scrooge McDuck. This will give you access to a quest called Scrooge McDuck’s Grand Re-opening.

Complete that quest and you’ll be able to start another one called Dreamlight Valley Economy 101. After finishing the first part of Dreamlight Valley Economy 101, sell some gems to Goofy and Scrooge will unlock the ability to expand your house.

Every time you expand your house, the number of inventory slots in your storage will also go up. You can do this until you have 28 slots.

For even more inventory space, you can start crafting Chests. Each Chest you make will give you an additional 14 item slots.
