The new Fortnite season has added plenty of features, including a way to activate an augment in Fortnite for exclusive performance buffs. These tweaks act like the equivalent of Call of Duty perks, changing your stats for certain weapons slightly, or giving you a boost when it comes to traversal.
In this Fortnite guide we'll explain everything you need to know augments. That includes how they work, what exactly they are, and a full list of all the augments now available in Chapter 4 Season 1.

How do I activate an augment in Fortnite?
Fortunately, it's very easy to activate augments in Fortnite. As you'll see once you first drop into this rebooted battle royale island, augments are set on a timer and appear passively as you play. Therefore, the longer you survive the more augments you'll be able to stack at once.
As you play through a match, you'll see a small timer to the right of the screen, counting down from ten. Once it finishes, hit right on the D-pad to bring up the augmentation menu.
On this you'll see a choice of two augments, as well as a reroll option if you're willing to spend some gold bars. Pick the one you want free of charge, hold down the right trigger, and it'll be active for the rest of the match.
Augments keep on rolling in the longer you're alive, with a maximum of four active at once during a match. They can hugely boost your build and make you much more efficient in combat, so it's worth activating them as soon as you can.
What do augments do in Fortnite?
In Fortnite, augments most closely resemble the perk system in Call of Duty games. They're passive effects that can change any manner of stats, ranging from the ways you can regain health to certain weapons no longer using ammo.
Some are more useful than others, hence why the reroll mechanic can be handy if you have gold bars to spare and want to ensure you get the best possible augments. The first reroll in a match comes free, but subsequent ones will cost you.
